Our Team
If ever there were two people uniquely wired to be in this business, Norma and Bob fill the bill to a tee. There is incredible similarity in mind set, experience, goals and perspective and a common goal to share what they know with others.
Norma Havens began selling home made glazed donuts at 8 years old. She has lived in Reno Nevada for 29 years where she started as a maid cleaning guest rooms at the then MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. While attending the University of Nevada Reno in broadcast journalism she began a mid-day country radio show on KBET-AM. Her launch in to radio sales evolved into a 24-year career selling card lock fuel services. Norma will tell you that it was because she had absolute clarity that she didn’t just sell fuel, she sold control over fuel costs for government and private companies.
Norma was named the Sales Woman of the Year for the Professional Sales Women of Nevada in 2007 and remains active in numerous networking and sales organizations and is a sought after speaker. Norma is best described as the “sales persons’ sales person” with a genuine passion for what she does. Her real passion and mission in life is to inspire new paradigms in people’s lives.
Bob Belknap was inspired at 8 years old by his mother, a journalist, to write a neighborhood newspaper and sold his first ad to the next door neighbor for 50-cents. The ad copy read, “If you need parking lot lights, go see Mr. Bjorge”. Bob did a Saturday morning Rock and Roll Oldies Radio show done in the style of 50’s and 60’s boss jock radio, he says, “It was one of the most fun things I’ve ever done.”
Bob has had his own advertising agency and ad specialties company; he’s been a printer and print broker and has sold sales training in the area of prospecting as well as radio, print and television advertising. Bob also voices commercials and has been an emcee and speaker in the area. Bob is motivated by working with clients and having them and their staff suddenly “get it” and have clarity about their company and understand with an excited and enthusiastic look in their eyes.
Bob and Norma jointly conceived the University of Street Smarts concept figuring they both have a BS degree…that is Born to Sell degree. The company is answering a career long ambition in helping companies achieve clarity in what they really sell.
